Hamburger Bahnhof - Museum für Gegenwart - Berlin
11 February 2013
… Technicians and curators at the Hamburger Bahnhof are working flat-out in preparation for the Martin Kippenberger exhibition, which will open its doors on 23 February 2013. The event will be the first major showing of Kippenberger's work to be held at a Berlin museum since the artist left the city at the beginning of the 1980s. The Rieckhallen are crammed with large packing crates that are waiting to be opened. Installing a show like this is more complicated than it sounds. The pictures, posters, sculptures, record covers, photographs, and other items have to be carefully unpacked and documented before being hung. One by one the works are installed and the text panels go through one last editing phase before being printed up, ready for the walls. The countdown has begun.
